The Weather Rock Report
Sunday January 14th 2007
Location: The Bozeman House Front Yard, Bozeman, MT

Very bright sun giving the appearance of heat, however the sub zero temperatures have continued. –8.1 this morning reaching a high of 12.9 degrees at 5 PM this evening. As of this writing the temperature is –4.0. The wind has been blowing from the southeast most of the day today, between 6-8 miles per hour.
We have finally solved the mystery of what was causing the strange tracks in the snow beside and behind our station. First it was assumed to be coyotes, then dogs, cats, birds and finally the mystery was solved.
It has been a heard of deer. We managed to catch slightly blurry photographic evidence of them, and that is the photograph of the day. You can see one of their eyes reflecting in the shot.
They appear to be using the house as a sort of wind block, and have enjoyed trying to feast on some of the bushes placed in the front yard. However the family showed some uncommon sense and planted bushes that would be unpalatable to the deer.
We counted around 2 to 6 deer (we were unable to tell because it was very dark and then the family managed to startle them away.)

I will post my next report tomorrow,

The Weather Rock
